Halloween Cake!

Happy Halloween...Eve! I thought I'd share a picture of the cake I made for our Halloween lunch at school tomorrow. It's a double layer cake with melted Snickers bars in the middle! Who knows how it'll taste, but I thought it looked pretty cute!

P.S. "Kentuckyfest" is this weekend. I'm sure there will be lots of funny stories to tell when I get back. I'll share pictures too!

I'm baaaaaack!

Sorry for the unintentional blogging hiatus. Life just happens, and sometimes it's busier than others! For those of you who care about catching up, here's a glance back at what I've been doing since the last post.

1. Miami- This was so much fun! Bridgett, Lee, and I found a great deal on roundtrip tickets to Miami to visit Josh and Ginger. (They were $150 for those wondering.) I took off on a Friday and Monday so we had a good, long weekend. We only got to see Josh play four innings due to a rain delay and then his back injury, but we had tons of time to just hang out and have fun. It was a blast!

2. Cortney's poor car died a couple weeks ago. It just wouldn't go anymore, literally. We took it to the shop here for her, hoping it was something simple. No such luck. The mechanic said it was the transmission and it wasn't even worth fixing. It already had about 160,000 miles on it and even if she fixed this problem, the motor could blow up the next week. So, off we went on a car hunt. Mom and I pulled in to Jerry Damson Nissan just to look and see what they had. Little did we know, we ended up finding Cort a car that day. It's a 2006 Altima with only 24,000 miles. We got a pretty good deal. Cort came up this weekend to sign all the papers. She loved it. Here's a picture of her actual car.

3. We went to sing at the "Leadership Under Construction" retreat Sunday. Jeremy wanted us to come so we got up super early Sunday morning and drove an hour away to be with the teens for worship. It was fun. We leave two weeks from this weekend to go to Kentucky to sing at a youth rally in which Jeremy leads worship. I'm really thankful for this ministry and feel honored that God has given me the opportunity to use it for Him.

4. Our fall break, all one day of it, was this past Monday. I made the most of sleeping late! Although, I did have a reason. Sunday night was Midnight Madness at school. The teams could officially start handling the ball and scrimmaging Monday, so at midnight Sunday they invited people out and served free popcorn to watch the first scrimmage game of the season. The cheerleaders were there and dressed up in blue and white. Surprisingly, the gym was almost full. I guess it's never to late to watch some good basketball!

So there you have it- my life in a nutshell for the past month or so. I'm going to try and post more regularly again. Happy Tuesday!

Super Sports Saturday

I would say for a girl, I more than met my sports quota for the day. It was actually all voluntary and I watched most of it alone! I was feeling a little under the weather and spent the majority of the day on the couch watching tv. The day started with the Alabama game this morning. After that, I went straight to the Marlins/Phillies game. I did take a break and watch some HGTV, then the most awaited event of the day....Auburn vs. USF. (I watched as the Auburn players knelt down and prayed after scoring a touchdown. I am still so encouraged when I see that.) It was a fun day. I prefer to feel better tomorrow though, and actually get out of the house!!

P.S. Two points for anyone that guesses who this new guy is that ESPN has hired as a host on College Football Live. Recognize him from anywhere????

Football Season is here!!!

I'm so excited! The most anticipated time of year is here! It's time for some good ole AUBURN FOOTBALL!!! I look forward to it every season and am reminded when I watch of what an awesome time I had there (including going to church with Tommy Tuberville!) and how blessed I was that God led me to that wonderful town to go to school. So, if anyone is looking for me on a Saturday the next few months, you know where I'll be! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaar Eagle!!

Yay Josh!

I've been meaning to write a post on Josh for a long time but all two of my readers know how bad I've been at posting lately. However, since he hit a grand slam tonight, I figured this was the perfect time to write!

I'm so proud of him! He's done so well this season and I still can hardly fathom that the Josh I see playing on TV is the same Josh we all hang out with during the off season. There are never any references to baseball when he's home and his humility always amazes me. I truly think of him and Ginger (and precious Rhett) as my family. If you're reading, I love you all!

Back at it........

I know, I know, it's been exactly a month since I last posted. I haven't forgotten you dear blog. It's just that this summer was totally a whirlwind and I am still coming to grips with the fact that it's over.

I went back to school Monday. At this point, I'm usually okay with the fact that school is starting back because I've had time to rest and feel refreshed. Not this year! I barely felt like I was out a week before I was driving those same back roads and pulling in the parking lot to enter the bulding with that ever so familiar "school" smell. It's crazy! It took a couple days preparing my classroom and getting ready for kids for me to finally realize it would be okay to go back. The kids came Wednesday and have been really good so far (knock on wood) and the hardest thing has been getting out of bed in the mornings. I'm somewhat enjoying being back on a schedule, forcing myself to drink my water during the day, and eating the gross microwavable Smart Ones meals instead of the cafeteria fake barbeque. In a weird way, it's been nice.

I wasn't the only one starting a new school year this week. My precious little Camden (Brooke's oldest) started kindergarten. I can't believe it. I've thought about him so much and pictured him walking into the classroom with his little backpack on. Time flies. Here's his sweet picture of his first day. He's all the way over on the righthand side, red shirt. Nice pose, isn't it? Can you tell he was super excited to be there? I know that made it much easier on Brooke and Thomas! I love you Camden!
